Curb appeal on a Donelson front yard

Front gardens are usually not a design problem so much as a shape problem. The beds have crept, the line between bed and lawn has gone soft, and the planting has grown into one block of green.

Here the beds were cut back to a proper curve and edged so the line holds, the soil was worked and mulched, and the planting was set out in layers with something in flower across the seasons rather than everything at once in May.

It is not a complicated job. It is the one that changes how a house looks from the street more than anything else you can spend the same money on.
